When you upgrade an RStudio product, we always recommend using our most stable releases which you can find in the links below. You do not need to uninstall the previous version first, all of your configuration settings will be preserved.

If you are wanting to install a newer version of R, it is outside of our support, but we do recommend using the RStudio precompiled R binaries when possible and installing multiple versions of R rather than updating one version to the next.
