**Given:**

The ratio of the present ages of A and B = 5 : 8

The ratio of the present ages of C and B = 3 : 2

The sum of their ages = 100 years

**Calculation:**

As per the question, the ratio of A and B is given and the ratio of C and B is given, so on equalizing the ratio of B in both ratios:

A and B = 5 : 8 ----(1)

C and B = 3 : 2 ----(2)

After multiplying 4 in equation (2), B become equal in both the equations:

A : B : C = 5 : 8 : 12

The sum of their present ages ratio = 5 + 8 + 12

⇒ 25 units

Value of 25 units = 100 years

Value of 1 unit = 4 years

So. the present age of A = 5 units

⇒ 5 × 4

⇒ 20 years

** ∴ The present age of A is 20 years.**
